The war in Ukraine has lasted for almost four years already.

At the moment, there are 60 wars in the world, and one of them is taking place in the very heart of Europe, in Ukraine. Many European countries are anxious that this war can spread over the boundaries of Ukraine.

Yet, the line that separates the Donbass from the rest of the area has been bleeding for three years without a stop. This line spreads for about a thousand kilometers and mercilessly devours the lives of soldiers and civilians.

The war in Ukraine has taken the lives of more than 10 thousand persons and ruined hundreds of thousands more. Unfortunately, the majority of the victims are civilians on both sides beyond the dividing line but it’s even more tragic that children are being killed and injured by this war, too. The third anniversary of the war was marked by the opening of a memorial complex in Donetsk. It’s dedicated to the children killed in this war. The board bears the names of 66 children, aging 1 to 17.

People in the war zone abandoned everything they had, sought any ways to escape from crossfire and shelling, to save their lives and the lives of their children. Olim who managed to avoid death tell about it in our video film.

Our fund helped them make Aliyah. The Promised Land always welcomes its daughters and sons. Our task is to make their way home easier.

It’s sad to admit but there’s not much hope for the soonest end of this war. Politicians have not yet found any ways to stop this slaughter in the center of Europe. The ones who have their interest in the continuing conflict in Ukraine are too numerous on both sides.

So, the only thing we can do is keep on helping those who want to escape from the war and find a new life in the Promised Land.

Apart from the war, there are other reasons that force Ukrainian Jews to repatriate to Israel. They belong to the economic and social sphere of their lives and involve:

- no jobs
- low wages
- too small retirement payments
- no chance of having proper health care.

About 60% of Ukrainians live beyond the verge of poverty now.

What's more, many ollim have spiritual reasons that cause them to move closer to their origin and live in the land given to them by the Lord. Our new video 'Why Aliyah from Ukraine Doesn't Stop' speaks about the reasons that force olim to leave Ukraine and seek refuge in the Promised Land. (watch our new video here).
