Igor Levenshtein, 60, President of the fund PWC I was one of the pioneers of the Jewish revival in Ukraine. Since 1989, I have completed the way from secretly studying Hebrew to being a director of a Hesed in Zaporozhye, a representative of JOINT in the Donetsk region, and a director of a Jewish community center in Kiev. In the course of this volunteer and professional community work, I encountered many problems people had to face and the help they received to solve those problems. There’s nothing more rejoicing than helping people, and nothing more precious than their gratitude. I have been engaged in all the aspects of community work; education, culture, social programs. Aliyah has always been very important, such are the terms of Jewish life in a Diaspora. All my relatives and friends live in Israel. My mother’s grave is in Israel. And I am going to spend my golden years in Israel. Benefits of Israel are my benefits. That is why I accept the chance to help people who are going to repatriate to Israel as an honorable mission. It is my pleasure to be the President of the fund PWC: I execute contacts with the Embassy of Israel in Ukraine, Sokhnut and other Jewish organizations; I work with donors; I transmit the experience of community work to the staff of the fund; I support the spirit of Jewish traditions in the fund. And gratitude of people who receive help from the fund PWC gives me energy for further active work in assisting Aliyah. |
